I disagree with Mr. Blanchard and as an alleged man of God and a Black man who has probably seen the destruction and damage brought to our communities because of guns, would even drink this particular cup of Kool-Aid.

The whole debate on the 2nd Amendment is based on what was the intent and purpose of the original authors. Is the amendment one that was created to ensure the continuation and flourishing of the state militias as a means of defense, or was it created to ensure an individual's right to own a firearm? The simple answer is yes to both, however, social attitudes towards militias have changed. There's really no need for them - what was known as that entity in the late 1700's has evolved into the National Guard and regular, non-Guardman are expected to take up arms in defense of the nation although militias are still recognized by US code.

The bottom line is that how the amendment was written and the place guns have in our society have evolved and should reflect that change. The effort in rallying the Black community to take up this charge by certain groups is, in my opinion, a concerted effort to find an issue that would attract those to the Libertarian party, and it's certainly in their right to do so, however, one should look at all the of the views held (secession, education, gun rights) and see if this is a party that would really address the problems of the Black community before you jump on board the bandwagon. Remember, everyone - especially in politics - has an agenda and when you have politics coming from the pulpit, one should be particularly wary. There's a reason for separation of church and state...
